Wow, The Monotrol Kid pakt je wel onmiddellijk bij de keel met ‘Misty Morning Song’. Mooie lyriek, intense zang, en elektrische gitaar geeft er een historisch tintje aan.

Ik dacht van mezelf tot vandaag dat ik gek was van muziek en dat ik ondanks mijn conformistische uiterlijk diep vanbinnen altijd een rebel was gebleven. Maar vandaag ontmoette ik een echt vrije geest, iemand die alles ten dienste stelt van datgene waarin hij gelooft: echte, pure muziek zoals ze die zogezegd niet meer maken.

Aanleiding voor de ontmoeting was een recensie van de ep ‘The Merchant’, die ik vorige zomer schreef. Nu het volgende album klaar was om gepers...

Op de debuutplaat ‘What About The Finches’ van twee jaar geleden klonk The Monotrol Kid nog voorzichtig en dromerig. Maar op hun nieuwe ep ‘The Merchant’ rolt de band met de spierballen, vooral met die van hun stembanden.
